Phil's Stuff The UK Doorz Home

Phil Prolonged exposure to Rock Music at an early age led to the gradual decline of Phils' studies and the beginning of his musical career.

He studied Bass at secondary school with the likes of Aziz Ibrahim (Ian Brown, Simply Red) and Danny Williams (Black Grape). Two years later ... bored ... he switched to guitar.

After numerous school bands, competitions, and dodgy gigs, "The Old Grey Horse" (Didsbury), became the heart of the local scene. Phil first met Jimbo and Dave here and a good time was had by all - until its closure in 1987.

Phil formed High Bias in 1989, a three-piece who celebrate their 10th. anniversary this year. He also played regular solo sets, mainly at "The Northern Songwriter Showcases" in Liverpool (run by the wonderful Gerry Murphy). It was at a solo gig in Manchester that a skint Phil was persuaded to play bass again.

He joined John Rossall's Glam Rock Experience in September '94, gaining vast experience of life on the road, and some cash! In August '96, guitarist Mark invited Phil to sing with his old band V2 at the "Holidays in the Sun" punk festival. A single release and more live performances followed.

By September '98 Phil needed a new challenge ... He took on the unenviable task of replacing the legendary Dave Grimley in The UK Doorz. A year down the line, Phil has become an integral member of the band.
